In a new initiative Mirndiyan Gununa Aboriginal Corporation are offering a two hour comprehensive training workshop for employees of community organizations who are new to the community.

Sarah Isaacs a young Lardil women, came up with the idea and over the last two years has put together the package which she delivers with passion and pride. For too long people were coming to the community and through no fault of their own  working in the community without any knowledge of local customs and proper protocols.

The response to her workshops has been very positive and all community organizations, including MSC, MI State School, QBuild, Jobfind, Medicare Local and Qld Housing, are getting their new workers to undergo the training.

Mirndiyan CEO Brett Evans says that it is a credit to Sarah for seeing the need for the training, putting together the package and delivering it .

The training can be done at the organization’s workplace or in Mirndiyan Gununa Aboriginal Corporation Board room. It is packaged as a Power Point presentation  and includes handouts of information about Community Protocols.
