"Thuwathu (Rainbow Serpent) is considered the largest and most significant creator for the people of Wellesley Islands. The word ‘Thuwathu’ is also the common term used by Lardil, Kaiadilt and Yangkaal peoples, even though they all speak different dialects.
Thuwathu created land and lore with his body movements - by thrashing his tail, rubbing his scales or diving deep into the land and sea.This spiritual being’s presence is well accepted in our Wellesley Islands community, and continues to be deeply revered and respected by all of us."
