This book tells the traditional Lardil story of the Moon Man which has been told on Mornington Island for a very long time. In the old days people told and listened to stories like this many times. They did not write the stories down so every time a story was told it would be slightly different. Old people learnt the details of these stories through dreams, and sometimes these dreams also came with songs. There are also other versions of this story that the old people told and some of them you can only find out when you are older.
